BEE EMPIRE RADIO LAUNCH

Subsequent to weeks of preparations, Bee Empire Radio was launched on 7th of May 2020. A lot was expected from the youth owned Radio Station, and if the first shows are anything to go by then we must brace ourselves for a joy ride.

The first show saw Dj Taka Bee (founder) juggling on a show called Open Session running every Thursday from 17:00 to 19:00. Dj Taka Bee took his listeners back to some golden "tunes" of yesteryear. The show didn't go without its own downs, a technical glitch saw the show stopping for a less than 2 mins. That didn't dampen the mood as the show carried on afterwards without any further glitches. It was a great 2 hour of music, a night that will probably set the tone for all the shows that shall follow.

Friday we saw 1 show of its kind, Triple Dosage (3 hours, 3 DJs, 3 genres). The show was great for a Friday night. Dj Taka Bee opened the show with some mid tempo jams slowly increasing the tempo. By the time he finished his set, we were already on the dance floor dancing to some nice house tunes. In came the young and gifted Dj Yankee Lee with some high tempo house music mixing some hit songs from the past with current hits.
The host DJ, Dj Detso closed the show playing some Zimdancehall.

On Satarday we had a chance to listen to some dancehall and some afro pop music. The greatest thing about all the shows is that they took us back to yesteryear...a lot of songs that were played were hit songs that we had forgotten about, and playing such music during your first days as a radio station is a bit risk, but all the Dj didn't hesitate to take that risk and from my own experience I can safely say its a risk that paid dividents based on the responds I saw on social media.

Talkin about risk, Sunday saw Dj Taka Bee once again hosting the show alongside Dj Mancho. Sungura music was played towards the end of the show and I should say this was another great intiative, bringing the young and old together.

Speaking to Dj Taka Bee about the Bee Empire Radio launch he mentioned that he was delighted with the opportunity....."I thank God for the opportunity granted upon me, I want to help where I can while I also grow my brand as a mix master in the music circles. I am happy with the way things have gone so far, yes we had some glitches but that should be expected with live online radio and I hope we grow and overcome those challenges"

About the future he said " expect some fireworks, we are gradually introducing some raw talent, there is a top30 coming up, some gospel and sports shows that are coming up. We are working on bringing a lot of content and we hope by the end of the year (2020) we will be operating 24/7."

A lot is expected from the radio station, and only time shall tell if this is to be successful.
